Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Jovo account. Where local law sets a higher age for video-based social apps, follow the local rule. During sign-up we ask for a birth-date and apply automated checks; if an account looks like it belongs to a minor, we lock it and ask for age verification before it can be used again.
- Suspicion of under-age use triggers an immediate hold on the account.
- Confirmed minor accounts are closed and associated data is removed except where a legal obligation requires retention.
- Repeat attempts to sign up while under age can lead to a permanent device-level block.
Prohibited content
The following are never allowed anywhere in Jovo — live streams, private calls, chat messages, profile media, or any other surface:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including AI-generated, drawn, or otherwise synthetic material that depicts minors.
- Sexualised content involving minors, including suggestive framing, sexualised posing, grooming language, or the offer / request of such content.
- Attempts to contact minors for sexual, exploitative, or abusive purposes.
- Trafficking, doxxing, or sale of access to minors.
- Content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or substance misuse aimed at minors.
How to report
Anyone can report content or behaviour that endangers a minor, whether you're a Jovo user or not.
In-app
Tap the ⋯ menu on any stream, chat message, or profile and choose Report → Child safety. Add a short description — anything you write goes straight to our safety queue.
Write to pekingeselol302@gmail.com with subject line "Child safety report". Include the offending account, URL or screenshot, and the date/time the behaviour happened.
If a child is in immediate danger
Please contact your local emergency services first. Then, if you can, let us know so we can preserve evidence and co-operate with authorities.
Our response workflow
- Within 1 hour of a report, the account is flagged and the content is hidden pending review.
- Within 24 hours, a trained reviewer decides on action (remove, ban, escalate).
- Within 72 hours, confirmed CSAM is preserved in a quarantined vault, reported to NCMEC or the competent authority in the reporter's jurisdiction, and permanently removed from production systems.
- The reporter gets an update when the case is closed.
Safety tooling
- Hash-based matching against known CSAM datasets on every upload.
- On-device and server-side classifiers that flag high-risk media for human review.
- Keyword and grooming-pattern detection for chat and live-stream captions.
- Strict live-stream rate limits and automatic interruption when risky signals pile up.
- No public comment / DM for brand-new accounts until a short cool-down proves the account behaves.
Human moderation & training
Automation catches the obvious cases; trained moderators handle the rest. Every reviewer completes onboarding on the latest child-safety standards, trauma-informed review practice, and the legal reporting requirements of the jurisdictions we serve. Wellness support is available so that reviewers can do the work sustainably.
External partners & law enforcement
We co-operate with recognised child-safety organisations and with law-enforcement agencies when they serve a valid legal request. When we report CSAM to a competent hotline (for example NCMEC in the United States), we provide the minimum information needed to act on the report. Where a preservation order is in place, we preserve the evidence for as long as the order requires.
Guidance for parents
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a minor in your care has been using Jovo, please email us at pekingeselol302@gmail.com. Include the child's details, a way for us to verify your relationship, and a short description. We will close the account and delete associated data promptly.
More general device-level advice worth considering: set a family passcode on app-store downloads, enable screen-time controls, and talk regularly about who they're meeting online.
Policy updates
We review this policy at least twice a year and whenever regulation shifts. Material updates are announced in-app 30 days in advance, with a short summary of what changed. The "Effective date" near the top of the page is the source of truth.
